The National Society for Epilepsy (NSE)
The National Society for Epilepsy (NSE) is the UK’s largest medical charity in the field in the UK and the leading provider of epilepsy services. Epilepsy is the UK’s most common serious neurological condition, affecting half a million people. NSE’s aim is to improve the quality of life for all those people, their family carers and friends. Ground breaking research, diagnosis, support, assessment, rehabilitation and residential care are all included in the services provided by dedicated NSE staff.
NSE’s headquarters in Buckinghamshire is a centre for medical research into the condition, housing the only MRI scanner in Europe dedicated solely to epilepsy. It also operates a globally unique NHS epilepsy assessment facility providing individual assessment, rehabilitation training and ground-breaking research opportunities. NSE also provides residential care for people with complex epilepsy and learning disabilities.
NSE has a comprehensive range of information resources for both people with epilepsy and professionals, an information outreach service in hospitals in England and a schools’ awareness programme. For further information log on to www.epilepsynse.org.uk.
